Monday - Job’s Experience
Job 11:12-17
There are pre-requisites for a life that is radiant. Zophar, one of Job’s antagonists, provides Job with a list of activities which help one develop and maintain a radiant life. One must be aware of the condition and activity of one’s heart and hands. Iniquity dims and tarnishes the potential radiant life. One’s personality must ne conducive to brightness and steadfastness must be a character trait. Misery must not be allowed to weigh the emotions down which would bring on pity parties and the like. Job’s situation and Zophar’s deliberation show that even in the midst of trial, we must allow the glow of Jehovah shine through via our living.
Father, set before me the precepts for developing a radiant life. My desire is to radiate You in all of my life. In the name of Jesus, Amen
Tuesday - Life Focus
Psalm 34:3-5
Radiant lives demand a sure focus. All light can be traced back to a single source. Even in a dimly lit room, one can ultimately discover the source of the illumination after careful investigation. Believers that radiate always have a focus on the Lord. This focus includes regular praise and worship, both private and corporate. They regularly seek the face of the Lord, not for personal gain, but for the power to complete divine tasks, and for the glory of God. The seeking and the focus also provide a listening divine ear, and deliverance from fear. Those of us who are afraid of the dark (sin), need only focus on the light that God will place within us to dispel that fear. As you look to, and on, Jehovah, He will cause you to live a radiant life.
Father, allow me to see Your face and live a life that reflects Your glow and majesty. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Wednesday - Wisdom Generated
Ecclesiastes 8:1
Wisdom is a word that is misused quite a bit. We rarely look at wisdom as the prudent use of knowledge, but that is what it is. Wisdom allows one to instruct and encourage. Many of our more "seasoned" believers bless us with their wisdom, their prudent use of knowledge and experiences. These blessings allow us to avoid obstacles and pitfalls as we travel along this journey. We normally and regularly seek wise men and women to ask for their help. We find them because of the glow their wisdom provides. Many times this is from having to endure, to overcome, and having to smile in the midst of a storm. As we benefit from their wisdom, we develop a wisdom of our own, a radiance of our own. When this wisdom is godly in nature, God is glorified and the radiance takes on a divine nature. A radiant life can be generated, powered, by wisdom.
Father, as I seek You, power my radiance with Your precepts and wisdom. In the name of Jesus, Amen
Thursday - Supported By Righteousness
Daniel 12:2-3
If one has not developed an eternal mind set, one misses out on the glory of salvation. We tend to focus on the temporal too much, thus missing the power of what happens in the next, the eternal, existence. Daniel informs us that many will awaken, in that day, to everlasting life, while others to shame and contempt. This who awaken to life will possess the "brightness of the firmament" (heavens). This brightness will be as the stars. Our destiny is to glow in heaven just as the stars shine, but we have the opportunity to radiate here just as Jesus did on the Mount of Transfiguration. Imagine being able to shine here, in the now, and then, in eternity!
Father, You are the example I want to exemplify. Allow me to know, and do those things that cause You to radiate through me. In the name of Jesus, Amen
Friday - Illumination For Others
John 5:33-35
Have you ever really considered the presence of John, the Baptist? His life ought to be an example to all believers as they strive to be all that Jesus requires. John’s life was the candle that attracted many to the idea of repentance. He was unusual, but we are attracted to different and unusual things and people. His lifestyle was obscure and radical, but he was a light that drew, and ultimately shone, with laser sharpness to Jesus. John stood in the darkness of this sinful world like a lighthouse on a bleak shoreline. He radiated a godliness that had not been seen since Malachi wrote of the return of Elijah. Today the world needs believers who are willing to be placed in desolate places so as to provide a divine light in sinful darkness. Can He call on you?
Father, allow my life to illuminate the lives of those who have yet to accept Your Son as their Savior. In His name, Amen
Saturday - The Result of Courage
Acts 6:8-15
A radiant light will many times require courage. One cannot stand illuminated and not be noticed by those who would have them quenched and silenced. Stephen was one of the first deacons selected by the Greek community. His record is that he spoke in the synagogue and performed miracles and wonders. He was accused of blasphemy and false witnesses were brought against him. He stood his ground and eventually preached a sermon that would cost him his life. All the while it was said that his face shone as if he had seen an angel. It shone as a result of his courage.
Father, I know that in order to live a radiant life, I must be courageous. Please supply the needed courage. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Sunday - Changed To Radiance
2 Corinthians 3:18
Living a radiant life here means that we will be able to live a radiant life later. Paul tells us of a change from mortal and corruptible to immortal and incorruptible. We can be happy about this situation, but more importantly our radiance will be changed as well. Just as Jesus was radiant on the Mount, we will obtain that same radiance in the next life. The joy is being able to shine in this life to the glory of the Lord. Our job is to obtain and retain that glow, and present it to a worlds that is need of hope, peace, and radiance.
Father, I am available to shine for You. Use me in the darkness of this world. In Jesus’ name, Amen
